Use of in vitro Models for Pre-Clinical Therapeutic Testing

Researchers within the CPM use complex in vitro platforms to test therapeutic strategies — from small molecules to biologics, cell therapies and biomaterials — in human-relevant experimental models (e.g. organoids, 3D culture models, and organ-chips). Investigators use these systems to evaluate drug sensitivity, toxicity, and mechanisms of action and to perform phenotypic screening studies.  Together, this work enables more predictive pre-clinical assessments and de-risking of candidates before animal or clinical studies. We work closely with industry, regulatory bodies, and government to ensure that models, processes, and testing support the translational needs of end users in different sectors.
