In addition to developing cell-based in vitro models for understanding biological processing, disease progression and testing of pharmaceuticals, researchers at the Centre for Predictive in vitro Models are also involved in developing and using models to predict the performance of medical device and biomaterials.

For example this might include measuring the wear characteristics of orthopaedic implants, understanding the biological response to biomaterials, or measuring incrustation and fouling of stents and catheters. In the cardiovascular field this work integrates with Queen Mary's Cardiovascular Devices Hub.

Much of this activity is closely linked with medical device companies and we are actively seeking further collaborations with healthcare industry. Please contact us if you have ideas for possible collaboration.
