PhD Title

A multi-organ model for breast cancer metastasis to bone and liver

Interests

Supervisors: Prof Martin Knight, Prof Stefaan Verbruggen
Industry Partner: CN-Bio

My PhD studentship project will develop new organ-chip models to explore breast cancer metastases to liver and bone with a particular focus on modelling dormancy. We are interested in developing a human organ-chip model which can be used to test therapies that involve regulation of cancer cell dormancy in partnership with chemotherapy. This project builds on existing research on bone metastasis models from my two academic supervisors, Prof Knight and Dr Verbruggen, including their recently published papers in Advanced Science and Cancers. The project is supported by partnership with the organ-chip company, CN-Bio, and will use their commercial state-of-the-art multi-organ platform which is available within the Centre.
