The Physicians Committee is a nonprofit organization based in Washington, DC, USA, that works across sectors to integrate predictive human biology-based approaches that replace and reduce the use of animals in research and testing. Our team is comprised of experts in science and policy. Our team has ample experience working to support in vitro methods and promote their use by working with global regulators, the regulated industry, academics and research organizations. We also work with the United States federal and state legislatures on science policy issues. Our staff serve as the Secretariat to the International Council on Animal Protection in OECD Programmes (ICAPO) at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the Secretary for the American Society for Cellular and Computational Toxicology (ASCCT). We host trainings and webinars on in vitro methods, have funded evaluation studies for in vitro methods and continue to look for opportunities to support development and integration of in vitro methods for basic research and regulatory acceptance. At the Physicians Committee, I run our program to integrate human biology-based approaches to improve drug testing.
