Bioengineered Tissue Systems & Models
28 September 2025
Bioengineered human tissue systems are redefining how we understand human pathophysiology and develop therapeutic interventions. and offer unprecedented opportunities to study human biology "in a dish." These systems enable the recapitulation of complex tissue microenvironments, multi-organ interactions, and personalized biology, bridging gaps left by traditional animal models and isolated in vitro experiments. The diversity and rapid growth of bioengineering approaches have created an urgent need for interdisciplinary dialogue. The CSHL Bioengineered Tissue Systems & Models meeting aims to bring together these fragmented communities to:
1. Facilitate cross-pollination of ideas among bioengineers and biologists
2. Highlight synergies between modeling, tool development, and translational applications.
3. Address critical challenges, such as reproducibility, validation and regulatory pathways.
4. Define a shared vision for the future of bioengineered models.
